Dengue Drive Day 28th July 2019, Sullia

As the dengue cases in community were on the rise this year, the district administration of Mangalore had directed the Health and Family Welfare department to organize awareness drive in their localities in coordination with all the citizen groups.

As a part of this drive, the KVG Medical College and Hospital and KVG Nursing college students and faculties participated in Dengue Drive Day activities organized collaboration with Taluk Health Dept , IMA Sullia, Nagarapanchayat, Rotary Club, Chamber of commerce Sullia and other local organaisation.. The programme started at 9.00am at Pvt  Bust stand, where Dr. Narayana Holla Professor Community Medicine addressed the gathering and spoke on the responsibilities of the people regarding the environmental measures one can follow in their houses as well in their surroundings to reduce the vector density in the community, which will reduce the case load in the community. Dr. Geetha Doppa Professor and HOD OBG spoke regarding clinical features and treatment of dengue. Dr. Shashikala N Asst Prof, Community Medicine and Mrs. Chandravathi  Principal  KVG Nursing College, , Mr. Chandrashekhar Manager, Mr. Umar Sr. Executive,Mr. Dayananda  Health Inspector, Mr. Shashidhar PRO KVGMCH are present. Dr Subramanya THO Sullia, Mr. Sudhakar Rai President chamber of commerce Sullia, also participated.

Later an awareness rally went around the town in two groups consisting of medical and nursing students, ASHAs, ANMs and health workers & publics. The rally concluded at the KVG circle where refreshments were provided to all the participants.

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
