World Physiotherapy Day -2025

“World Physiotherapy Day” is celebrated every year on 8th September to recognize the vital role Physiotherapists play in keeping people healthy and independent. The K.V.G. Institute of Physiotherapy, Sullia, observed this day with the theme “Healthy Ageing”, highlighting the importance of Physiotherapy in promoting functional independence, mobility, and quality of life among older adults. Welcome address was delivered by Dr.Mahesh Reddy Associate professor KVGIP

The academic session featured insightful talks delivered by:

  • Shashwathi G, Assistant Professor, KVGIP, Sullia addressed regarding need for healthy ageing, insights into need for intervention to promote healthy ageing, exercise interventions for ageing healthily.
  • Kshema K.L, Assistant Professor, KVGIP, Sullia conducted an exercise demonstration session consisting of basic exercises focusing on all the components OD Exercise prescription for elderly.

The program was presided over by Smt. Shobha Chidananda, Vice President, AOLE®, Sullia. She emphasized the importance of healthy ageing and role of Physiotherapists in Preventive, Curative, and Rehabilitative Health Care, especially in supporting the elderly population to lead active and dignified lives.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of the Management, Principal, Faculty, and Students, which was delivered by Dr.Maneesh Principal, KVG Institute of Physiotherapy.

Dean

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
