Constitution Day Celebration  – 2025

The NSS Unit of KVG Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, observed Constitution Day on 26 November 2025 with the objective of reaffirming commitment to the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. The event was organized under the theme “Hamara Samvidhan – Hamara Swabhiman.”,

The programme commenced with a formal welcome by Ms. Vidya K, NSS Programme Officer, who greeted the dignitaries, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students. She highlighted the importance of Constitution Day in fostering constitutional awareness and civic responsibility among young citizens.

The guest speaker, Dr. Mamatha, Professor and Head, Department of Political Science, NMC Sullia, delivered an insightful talk on the evolution and significance of the Indian Constitution. She elaborated on the historical background of the Constituent Assembly, the structure of the Constitution, fundamental rights and duties, and the guiding principles that shape India’s democratic governance. She also emphasized the relevance of constitutional values in contemporary society and encouraged students to uphold these ideals in their personal and professional lives.

Following this, Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan, Dean, KVGMC&H Sullia, addressed the gathering. She spoke about the visionary leadership of the framers of the Constitution and underscored the document’s role in ensuring justice, equality, and liberty for all citizens. She further highlighted the responsibility of medical professionals to practice ethical decision-making and uphold constitutional values in healthcare settings.

As part of the ceremony, all participants collectively recited the Preamble to the Constitution, reaffirming their commitment to the democratic spirit of the nation. A quiz competition on constitutional topics was also conducted to enhance awareness and encourage active participation among students.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Vidya K, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, faculty, and volunteers for their support and active involvement in making the event successful.

Dean

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
