World Surgeons Day – 2026

On occasion of National Surgeon’s week (9th June to 15th June), Surgeon’s day was celebrated on 12th June 2026 at KVC Entrance.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Gopinath Pai, Professor & HOD, Department of General surgery and Dr. Ranjith K B, Professor, Department of General Surgery.

The event commenced with a formal inauguration with a devotional song, followed by ceremonial lighting of lamp by the dignitaries,

The program was emceed by Dr. Srinidhi, 3rd year postgraduate in General Surgery. Dignitaries were welcomed with flowers as a token of respect and gratitude. This was followed by insightful words of Dr. C. Ramachandra Bhat, Medical superintendent. Subsequently, Dr. K.V. Chidananda shared a few words encouraging the gathering and emphasising the importance of dedication and service in the surgical profession.

A skit was performed by MBBS undergraduate which was well received by the audience. The inaugural programme concluded with vote of thanks. As a symbol of growth, sustainability and commitment to nurturing future generations, the celebration concluded with plantation of saplings.

The Department of General surgery extends its gratitude to all the speakers, professors from other department, nursing staff, students and non-teaching staff for making the event a grand success.

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
