“World Suicide Prevention Day” was observed at KVG Medical College & Hospital, sullia by Department of Psychiatry on 11/9/2025 with the theme ‘Changing the narrative on suicide’ with active participation from students, faculty and staff.
The program was started by Dr.Rashmi, Assistant professor, Department of Psychiatry who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the day and spreading awareness about suicide prevention.
On this occasion, Dr. Poonam. M, Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, KVG Medical College & hospital addressed the gathering highlighting the warning signs of suicide such as hopelessness, changes in behaviour while emphasizing protective factors like family support, resilience, community connection. Highlighting the importance of early recognition and timely support, to seek professional help without hesitation, reinforcing that timely intervention can save lives.
The event concluded with a call to break the stigma surrounding mental health and work collectively towards a supportive environment.
