National Nutrition Day – 2025

“National Nutrition Day” was observed at KVG Medical College & Hospital, Sullia by the Department of Paediatrics in collaboration with Department of Community medicine on 16/9/2025 with the theme ‘Eat Right for Better Life’ with active participation from students, faculty and staff.

Inaugural speech given by Dr . Neelambikai Natarajan , Dean KVG Medical College & Hospital.

The program was started by Dr. Sudha Rudrappa ,  Professor and HOD , Department of Paediatric who welcomed the gathering and highlighted the significance of the day and spreading awareness about healthy nutrition practices.

On this occasion, Dr. Anila .  SR of the Department of Community medicine KVG Medical College & Hospital addressed the gathering highlighting the importance of good nutrition, balanced diet, and healthy lifestyle along with NIN policy 2022. She emphasized the role of nutrition in improving physical and mental well-being, building resilience, and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. The importance of early adoption of healthy eating habits, community awareness, and timely lifestyle modifications were reinforced to ensure better quality of life. The session was concluded with an interactive quiz for the undergraduate and nursing students.

The event concluded with a call to adopt healthy eating habits, break myths surrounding diet and nutrition, and work collectively towards building a healthier society.

Dean

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
