As part of the National CPR Awareness Week, Department of Respiratory Medicine, K.V.G. Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, organised CPR Awareness Day on 17th October 2025, with the aim of promoting life saving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) skills among the general public and students.
The program began with a formal inauguration and lighting of the lamp by dignitaries, followed by an inspiring address by the Dean Dr Neelambikai Natarajan, who highlighted the importance of community CPR knowledge in improving survival rates after cardiac arrest.
Dr. Preethiraj Ballal(Associate Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine) delivered an engaging awareness talk on “Introduction to CPR”, explaining the simple yet vital steps involved in performing CPR and demonstrated the same amongst the public. This was followed by a live CPR role play demonstration by Dr. Vignesh and team of Postgraduates, which effectively showcased how timely intervention can save lives in emergencies.
A CPR Awareness Booth was inaugurated to provide continuous public education throughout the week. Dr. Sushmitha(Post graduate, Department of Respiratory Medicine) led the gathering in taking a CPR Pledge, affirming their commitment to spreading awareness and training more individuals.
In his Presidential Address, Dr. K.V. Chidananda, President AOLE, appreciated the Department of Respiratory Medicine and the organising team for their initiative in extending lifesaving knowledge beyond the hospital environment.
Dr. AnirudhaK (Assistant Professor, Department of Respiratory Medicine) was the Master of the Ceremony for the event and concluded with a Vote of Thanks, as he expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and members of the public for their active participation.
The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, staff, as well as the public, reinforcing the message that “Knowing CPR means having the power to save a life.”
