The Annual College Fest, Lumiere 2026, is a greatly anticipated event which was celebrated in the college premises in the month of January with much grandeur, including several events under its banner.
Inauguration
The Inauguration for the cultural and Sports events was held on 7 January, 2026 in front of the Emergency Building of the Hospital Block. Starting off with the delivery of the Inaugural address by the Dean, Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan, the Batch of 2025 revealed their name, “Kairos” which symbolizes an opportune moment. Following the reveal of the batch of 2025, the banners for the upcoming fest were unveiled along with a performance by the organizing batch of 2021, with the cultural events coming under the banner of “Aikyam” symbolizing unity and the sports events coming under the banner of “Aparajita” symbolizing the undefeated spirit of sportsmanship. The gathering concluded with an inspiring address by Dr. Aishwarya K C, Secretary AOLE.
Lumiere 2026 – Day 1
The cultural fest began on 19 January, 2026 in the Examination Hall in full swing with competitions for Solo Singing Classical, Duet Freestyle Singing, Solo Classical Dance and Duet Semi Classical Dance bringing an environment of harmony onto the stage.
These competitions paved the way formal function of the Annual Day Celebration, presided by Dr K V Chidananda, President AOLE with the Chief Guest being Dr Pravin G U, Academic Council Member, RGUHS and Principal, Sri Chamundeshwari Medical College, Hospital and Research Institute, Channapatna. The dignitaries were escorted onto the Dais by the members of the Student Council.
The blessings of the almighty were melodiously invoked by Dr. Sanjay, JR II Department of Paediatrics and Dr Sowmya, JR II Department of Ophthalmology. This was followed by the Welcome Address and the lighting of the auspicious lamp symbolizing the victory of light over darkness. The college report was then read out by the Dean, Dr Neelambikai Natarajan, highlighting the various achievements by the students and staff along with the details of all activities conducted in the college throughout the academic year. The college Magazine “Swaasthya” was then released by the dignitaries after its introduction by Dr.Roshan S D, Magazine Committee Head.
The keynote address was then delivered by the Chief Guest, Dr. Pravin G U, who inspired all the students to keep actively participating in college activities. He also spoke about the importance of gaining knowledge and contributing to society with the knowledge that is acquired by a student. A token of appreciation was provided to him by the dignitaries on the dais.
The awards for academic excellence were then announced by Dr. Navya B N Cultural Coordinator and Professor, Department of Pathology. This was followed by the announcement of the awards for the Outgoing Intern Batch, Best Department Award and the Literary Championship and Sports Championship Trophies by Dr. Geeta Doppa, Postgraduate Incharge and Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The Best Department awards were given to the Departments of Pathology, Radio diagnosis and General Surgery. The Literary Championship trophy was bagged by the Batch of 2021, Prometheans, while the Sports Championship trophy was bagged by the Batch of 2020, Xanthrons.
Following the distribution of prizes, the Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. K V Chidananda, who inspired the gathering to keep the flame of talent and creativity burning. The formal function was concluded by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. Nikshep Chandrashekhar, General Secretary and Ms. Gowri S Pillai, Joint General Secretary.
The formal function being concluded, the dignitaries came down from the dais to inaugurate the various stalls set up for the College Fest, including the Food Stall, Snacks Stall, Neon Painting Stall, Rose Dedication Stall and Polaroid Photography Stall. This was followed by energetic performances by the teaching Faculty and the Nursing Staff.
Continuing in the vein of dances, the stage was lit up by the performers in the Folk Dance and Mock Rock Competitions. The evening came to a musical conclusion with the performance of the College Band “Malhar”.
Lumiere 2026 – Day 2
The second day of events, held on 20 January, 2026, continued the momentum of the previous day, with participants displaying their creativity in Mad Ads and their musical skills in Solo Western Singing. The ramp came to life with the Fashion Show, with the teaching Faculty also displaying their skill on the ramp.
The next competitions in the list were Solo Freestyle Dance, Solo Freestyle Singing and Group Freestyle Dance. With the conclusion of all the cultural events, the Cultural Championship trophy was awarded to the Batch of 2023, Shauryans. The overall championship trophy was won by the Batch of 2021, Prometheans. The event came to an energetic close with a musical event by DJ Ujjwal. With this, college fest reached its electrifying conclusion.
Later in the evening, dinner was served in the KVG Women’s Hostel Quadrangle as all the members of KVG Medical College and Hospital came together to celebrate the spirit of camaraderie.
