Safe Motherhood Day – 2026

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology , K.V.G. Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, organized Safe Motherhood Day on 11th April 2026 , centered on the theme “Equity in Maternal Healthcare: Leaving No Mother Behind.” The program began with an invocation and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

Dr Anil Baipadithaya Prof Dept of OBG welcomed the gathering .

The Dean, Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of accessible and equitable maternal healthcare services.

The event was presided over by Dr. K.V. Chidananda, President AOLE.

Academic sessions highlighted key aspects of maternal care.

Dr. Geeta Doppa ,HOD and Professor Dept of OBG speaking on “Antenatal Care – First Step to Safe Motherhood” .

Dr. Ravikanth G O ,Professor Dept of OBG delivered  an insightful talk on “The Golden Hours – Care During and After Childbirth.”

A short video presentation by the postgraduate students of OBG enriched the program.

The presidential address by Dr. K.V. Chidananda reinforced the commitment to maternal health.The program witnessed active participation and reflected the institution’s dedication to improving maternal outcomes and spreading awareness within the community.

Dr Vyshnavi sang the invocation song and Dr Keerthana was the master of ceremony.

Dr Borkar gave the vote of thanks .

The program was attended by Principal of KVG Institute of Nursing Sciences , Heads of various departments, Professors , medical and nursing students .

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
