These highly-skilled specialists have the profound knowledge and experience necessary to diagnose and treat a broad array of ailments associated with bones, joints, nerves, and muscles. They routinely address a multitude of common orthopedic conditions, including spinal disorders, rotator cuff injuries, hand arthritis, meniscus tears, and hip pain. Additionally, they are well-versed in tackling a spectrum of pediatric issues that range from congenital deformities to complex fractures.

Our dedicated orthopaedic teams are composed of highly-trained physicians, nurses, therapists, and additional support staff. These professionals bring a wealth of expertise to the table, specialising in a comprehensive range of orthopaedic services that cater to both adult and paediatric patients. Our offerings encompass a wide array of medical procedures and specialties including, but not limited to, spine surgery, joint replacement, microsurgery, sports medicine, podiatry, and orthopaedic oncology. Each member of our staff is wholeheartedly committed to patient-centered care and work synergistically to craft the most efficient and effective treatment plans for our patients.

The orthopaedic services at KVG Medical College & Hospital are administered by a substantial, dedicated cadre of surgeons, physiatrists, podiatrists, and other staff, all of whom have received specialized training to ensure the best possible patient outcomes. Our team is capable of providing all-encompassing care for disorders of the musculoskeletal system, which includes both muscles and bones. This patient-centric, comprehensive care is readily available to all patients, regardless of age, and caters to the unique needs of both adults and children.

Orthopaedic Services We Provide

The other special services for adults and children are as follows:

The Adult Reconstruction and Arthritis Service at our institution is a specialized department that provides a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of adult patients grappling with degenerative and inflammatory arthritis conditions. We understand the unique challenges that these conditions pose and have tailored our services to meet the specific needs of our patients, striving to alleviate pain, enhance mobility, and improve overall quality of life.

Our team of dedicated medical professionals offers an array of specialized procedures, carefully designed to address a broad spectrum of arthritis-related conditions. These include, but are not limited to, hip and knee reconstruction, and hip and knee replacement procedures. Each of these surgical interventions involves intricate techniques aimed at restoring function, enhancing mobility, and reducing pain.

Hip and knee reconstruction procedures involve the surgical modification of the affected joints to improve their function and structure. These interventions may involve various techniques, including bone grafting, realignment procedures, or total joint replacement, based on the specific needs and conditions of the patient.

Hip and knee replacement surgeries, also known as arthroplasties, involve the removal of the damaged joint and replacement with a prosthetic implant. These surgeries aim to restore joint function and provide pain relief, enabling patients to resume their daily activities with improved comfort and mobility.

Moreover, we also provide advanced arthroscopic procedures. Arthroscopy is a minimally invasive surgical technique that allows for a thorough examination and treatment of damage within a joint, using a small camera inserted through tiny incisions. This method is highly effective and causes minimal trauma to the surrounding tissues, leading to faster recovery times for patients.

Our department takes pride in its multidisciplinary approach to care, and patient well-being is at the core of everything we do. Beyond these specialized surgical interventions, our team also provides comprehensive rehabilitation services to aid in the recovery process. Our rehabilitation program is designed to help patients regain strength, improve flexibility, and achieve the best possible functional outcome following surgery.

Our Foot and Ankle Service stands at the forefront of specialized care, providing an exhaustive array of treatment options for a wide spectrum of conditions related to the foot and ankle. This service line is specifically designed to address the complex issues that can arise in these parts of the body, ranging from common injuries to conditions associated with chronic diseases like diabetes.

We offer advanced procedures, including reconstructive foot surgery, which is a vital treatment option for patients suffering from severe foot deformities, long-term injuries, or chronic foot pain. Our skilled surgeons are capable of reshaping the structure of the foot to restore function and alleviate discomfort, with an ultimate aim of improving the patient’s mobility and quality of life.

Another significant facet of our service is the treatment of fractures and other injuries. Given the crucial role that the foot and ankle play in mobility, such injuries can greatly impact a patient’s daily life. Our team is adept at diagnosing and treating these conditions, utilizing both non-surgical and surgical interventions as needed. We work diligently to guide our patients through their recovery, helping them regain their strength and mobility.

Furthermore, we provide specialized care for foot and ankle problems that are associated with diabetes, a disease known for its potentially detrimental effects on foot health. This can range from treatment of diabetic foot ulcers to managing the consequences of peripheral neuropathy. Our goal is to prevent the progression of such conditions, mitigate complications, and enhance the overall foot health of our diabetic patients.

Our Foot and Ankle Service also includes unique offerings such as treatment for degenerative foot conditions. Degenerative foot conditions, such as arthritis or tendonitis, can cause severe pain and disability. Our physicians are experienced in both conservative and surgical treatments to alleviate pain and improve function. Fusion procedures are another specialty service we offer. These surgeries involve joining, or “fusing,” bones together to relieve pain caused by joint conditions, thus enhancing patient mobility.

We also offer joint replacement procedures. Similar to hip or knee replacements, foot and ankle joint replacements involve replacing damaged joint surfaces with artificial implants. This procedure can significantly reduce pain and restore function in patients with severe arthritis or other debilitating joint conditions.

KVG Medical College & Hospital holds a distinguished position as a preeminent center for joint replacement surgery. Our expertise is not only recognised locally but also respected across the region. Our commitment to excellence and dedication to improving patients’ quality of life through advanced surgical procedures have led us to become a leading healthcare provider in this field.

Our specialized team of orthopedic surgeons has honed their skills through years of rigorous training and experience. They excel in performing joint replacement surgeries, a surgical procedure wherein a damaged joint is replaced with a prosthesis to alleviate pain and restore function. Our expert surgeons are not only well-versed in the traditional methods but also adept at employing the most advanced techniques and technologies, ensuring the highest standard of care for our patients.

We stand out in the field particularly for performing an unparalleled number of single joint replacements. This includes knee and hip surgeries, which are among the most common types of joint replacements due to the weight-bearing nature of these joints. Our proficient surgeons have a wealth of experience in performing these procedures, delivering remarkable results that enhance our patients’ mobility and reduce their pain.

In addition to knee and hip replacements, our hospital also specializes in joint replacements for various other parts of the body. This includes shoulder and ankle replacements, which are essential procedures for patients who have suffered severe joint damage in these areas due to arthritis, trauma, or other conditions. These surgeries can significantly improve the patients’ quality of life by reducing pain and improving joint function and stability.

Our comprehensive service also extends to performing joint replacements for hand and wrist, areas often affected by conditions like rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis. Our expert surgeons use their in-depth knowledge and surgical skills to replace the damaged joints with prosthetic devices, restoring movement and strength to the hands and wrists.

Moreover, we perform joint replacements for the big toe, a procedure that can provide significant relief for patients suffering from conditions such as hallux rigidus, a form of degenerative arthritis. This surgery involves replacing the damaged joint with an artificial one to alleviate pain and improve mobility.

At KVG Medical College & Hospital, we provide comprehensive bone health services that include a quick, straightforward, and pain-free examination to determine your risk of experiencing bone fractures, particularly those related to osteoporosis. Osteoporosis, a bone condition that leads to increased risk of fractures, is prevalent and can often go undiagnosed until a break or fracture occurs. Early identification and treatment are crucial to reducing the risk of a debilitating fracture, and our state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities allow us to do precisely that.

The cornerstone of our diagnostic approach is the advanced DA bone densitometer, a cutting-edge scanning technology that offers a highly detailed assessment of your bone health. This sophisticated device uses a form of X-ray technology to measure the amount of bone mineral content (calcium and other minerals) in a specific part of your bones, thereby providing an accurate estimate of your bone density. This is important because the lower the bone density, the greater the risk of fractures.

One of the key features of our DA bone densitometer is its ability to detect existing fractures of the vertebrae in the spine. Spinal fractures can be particularly debilitating and are often a significant concern in patients with osteoporosis. By highlighting these fractures, our scanning technology allows for early intervention and the possibility to prevent further damage.

In addition, our DA bone densitometer excels in identifying low bone density, a major risk factor for osteoporotic fractures. It provides a comprehensive picture of your bone health by showing areas where the bone is thinning. Recognizing low bone density early can facilitate prompt treatment and potentially slow the progression of osteoporosis, reducing the risk of fractures in the future.
