The Department of Medical Education, KVG Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, organized an educational session on “Mind Mapping” on 2nd July 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at KVC Hall 2.
The session was conducted by Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan, Dean, KVG Medical College & Hospital, who served as the resource person. The programme was organized with the objective of introducing students to mind mapping as an effective learning strategy for organizing information, improving memory retention, enhancing critical thinking, and facilitating meaningful learning.
The session was attended by all postgraduate students and final-year MBBS students. During her presentation, Dr. Neelambikai explained the principles of mind mapping, its role in promoting active learning, and practical techniques for creating effective mind maps. She highlighted how mind mapping can simplify complex medical concepts, improve note-taking, aid revision, and strengthen clinical reasoning by establishing logical connections between related topics.
The session included demonstrations of mind map creation using medical examples, followed by an interactive discussion where participants explored ways to incorporate this technique into their daily study routines and academic presentations. Students actively participated in the discussion and appreciated the practical applicability of the method in medical education.
The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which participants clarified their queries regarding the effective use of mind maps in undergraduate and postgraduate learning. The session was well received and provided valuable insights into innovative learning strategies that can enhance academic performance and lifelong learning skills.
