World Blood Donor Day – 2026

As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of KVG Medical College & Hospital, Sullia, the Department of Pathology and Blood Centre, in association with KVG Institute of Allied Health Sciences, KVG Institute of Nursing, KVG Institute of Nursing Sciences, and KVG Institute of Physiotherapy, organized a Blood Donation Camp on the occasion of World Blood Donor Day 2026 on 15 June 2026.

The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Dr. Sathyavathi, Head of the Department of Pathology, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. A blood donor pledge was subsequently administered by Dr. Navya, Professor, Department of Pathology and Blood Centre Officer, reaffirming the commitment of participants towards voluntary blood donation and service to society.

As part of the World Blood Donor Day celebrations, an awareness and gratitude video was released to acknowledge and appreciate the invaluable contribution of voluntary blood donors. Thank-you cards were also sent to all donors who had previously donated blood at the Blood Centre as a token of gratitude for their selfless service to society.

The theme of the programme, “One Drop of Humanity – Give Blood, Save Lives,” highlighted the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients in need.

Principals of the sister institutions, along with faculty members, Students from the Medical College, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Allied Health Sciences institutions, enthusiastically took part in the programme and blood donation drive. The camp witnessed an encouraging response from donors who came forward to contribute to this noble cause and support the community through voluntary blood donation.

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan

Dr. Neelambikai Natarajan is a alumna of Thanjavur Medical College, where she obtained her medical degree. She further pursued her MD in Physiology from Madras Medical College and an MBA in Hospital Administration from Alagappa University.

Throughout her academic medical career, Dr. Natarajan has served in various capacities at several prominent institutions, including Madras Medical College, Madurai Medical College, Government Medical College Coimbatore, Government KAP Vishwanathan Medical College in Trichy, and Meenakshi Medical College in Kanchipuram. With over 20 years of administrative experience, she has held the position of Dean in multiple medical colleges for more than a decade. Her expertise in faculty training within medical education has earned her widespread recognition.

In addition to her administrative roles, Dr. Natarajan has served as an assessor on the Medical Council of India (MCI) panel for over 15 years. She was also an Ex-Senate member of the MGR University and Secretary of the Ethics Committee. Dr. Natarajan has completed an Advanced Course in Medical Education (ACME). Since 2019, she has been serving as the Dean at KVG Medical College and Hospital in Sullia.
